Serve Alpenzu’s pears in red wine syrup for an easy, elegant Italian dessert. The pairing of the Martin Sec pears and red wine is one that is steeped in tradition. The story goes that these small rusty pears are harvested on the 11th of November – Saint Martin’s day – the same day the new wine is tasted, hence the match.

Gently warm the sweet, spiced pears, then serve them with a scoop of vanilla gelato or mascarpone. Alternatively, enjoy the pears alongside goat’s cheese and walnuts at the start of your meal.
